Mold assessments and remediation
Our Four-Stage Process

Our Mold Assessment & Remediation Process

Every mold job follows the same four-stage process, whether the cause is a flood, a sewer back-up, a slow leak, or ongoing humidity:

01

Assessment

We inspect the affected areas, identify the moisture source, and determine the full extent of growth, including anything hidden behind walls or flooring.

02

Containment & Teardown

Affected materials that can't be salvaged are safely removed under containment to stop spores from spreading to unaffected areas.

03

Remediation Treatment

Remaining surfaces are cleaned and treated with professional-grade antimicrobial products, and the space is dried and monitored until moisture levels are back to normal.

04

Reinstatement

We rebuild the affected areas to at least Ontario Building Code (OBC) compliant condition, with additional upgrades available by request.

Mold Assessments

Mold Assessment Frequently Asked Questions

Here's what to know before booking a mold assessment:

01 When does an assessment need to be done?

An assessment is recommended any time you notice visible mold growth, a persistent musty odour, recent water damage or flooding, or ongoing high humidity in your home. Homes that have experienced a sewer back-up, a burst pipe, or a leaking roof should also be assessed even if no mold is visible yet, since growth can begin within 24 to 48 hours of water exposure.

02 What should I expect during an assessment?

One of our licensed technicians will inspect the affected areas, identify the source of moisture, and determine the extent of mold growth, including any hidden growth behind walls, under flooring, or in HVAC systems. You'll receive a clear report outlining what was found, the recommended scope of remediation work, and next steps for your insurance claim if applicable.

03 How does insurance in Ontario work for mold assessments?

Coverage for mold assessments in Ontario depends on the cause: mold resulting from a sudden, accidental event such as a burst pipe or sewer back-up is typically covered, while mold caused by long-term neglect or lack of maintenance often is not. Our team can help document the cause and extent of the damage in a way that supports your claim, and we work directly with your insurance provider to help maximize the coverage available under your policy.

04 How do you know you have a mold problem?

Common signs include a persistent musty smell, visible black, green, or white spotting on walls, ceilings, or flooring, discoloration or warping of drywall and baseboards, and ongoing allergy-like symptoms that improve when you leave the home. If you notice any of these signs, or if your home has had recent water exposure, it's worth booking an assessment even if the mold isn't clearly visible.

Remediation

Mold Remediation

Once mold is confirmed, remediation follows a few key principles:

01

Mold Remediation: How It Works

Once an assessment confirms the scope of the problem, our team contains the affected area to prevent spores from spreading, removes and safely disposes of any materials that can't be salvaged, and treats the remaining surfaces to eliminate mold at the source. From there, we reinstate the space back to at least Ontario Building Code (OBC) compliant condition.

02

How Is Mold Removed From My Home?

Affected materials such as drywall, insulation, and flooring that cannot be cleaned are removed and disposed of following industry containment standards to prevent cross-contamination. Non-porous and salvageable surfaces are cleaned and treated using professional-grade antimicrobial products, and the area is dried and monitored to ensure moisture levels return to normal before reinstatement begins.

03

What Is a Teardown and Why Do I Need It?

A teardown is the removal of walls, flooring, furniture, or other materials that have been compromised by mold or water damage and cannot be safely restored. It's a necessary step before reinstatement because mold can spread through porous materials in ways that aren't always visible on the surface, and rebuilding over an incomplete removal risks the problem returning.

04

How Does Insurance in Ontario Work for Mold Remediation?

As with assessments, remediation coverage generally depends on whether the mold resulted from a sudden covered event or from gradual neglect. Once your claim is opened, we work with your insurance provider to align the remediation scope with what's covered under your policy, and we can advise on reinstatement options for anything beyond the standard OBC-compliant rebuild.
